My approach to counseling
I am interested in working with individuals, couples, and families who are struggling or feeling “stuck” in their own lives or experiencing difficulties in their relationships.
I believe that being in a safe and trusting environment with a counselor can give people the strength and courage they need to explore painful life experiences, beliefs, and patterns that can be too daunting on their own. This process can help people overcome obstacles, improve communication and coping strategies, and improve overall functioning in all areas of a person’s life. I view my clients as partners in the therapeutic process. I believe that clients are the experts regarding their lives, although they sometimes need assistance during difficult times. Helping clients identify and build on their strengths is also an important aspect of the treatment process. In my work with children and youth, I believe parental involvement is important and work to incorporate parents in the therapy whenever this is possible and appropriate.
I have experience in working with
Evergreen Recovery Centers: Mental Health Intern working with addiction, anxiety, depression, stress, P.T.S.D., and relationship issues.
Friends of Youth: Youth and Family Intern working with youth and teens on issues involving anxiety, depression, stress, and family conflict.
Education
MA, Counseling Psychology with Emphasis in Depth Psychology, Pacifica Graduate Institute

Low Fee Clinic providers are master’s level clinicians who are supervised by senior staff. The LFC clinicians (externs) serve the needs of many clients who come to Samaritan Center for help. Externs are not eligible to receive insurance payments, but will work with you to arrive at an acceptable fee for service prior to, or at, your first meeting. If your annual household income falls below $60,000, you would typically be eligible to work with one of the externs.
