Mindy McGovern, M.A.
Works with Low-Fee ClinicMy approach to counseling
I take particular interest in working with individuals, couples, parents, and families experiencing relationship distress. This might be with parents, friends, partners, children, or colleagues at work. I also enjoy working with individuals and couples with concerns and questions around their sexuality.
I believe that having a safe and confidential place to bring your problems can make all the difference. My focus is on you as a person and how you are influenced by and influence those around you. I meet you where you are and we work together to uncover your strengths as well as the areas in which you are seeking change. I bring my life experience, my insight, and my training in attachment-based therapy as well as cognitive behavioral-based therapy into our work. I am constantly seeing to expand my clinical expertise and knowledge base and participate in peer consult groups and supervision so as to provide you with the best possible care.
I have experience in working with
Ryther Center for Children and Youth 2015-2017: Outpatient Mental Health Intern working with children experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD/ADD, oppositional behavior, trauma, and challenges at school as well as parent counseling and support.
I have completed an externship in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and am currently working toward national certification as a sex therapist.

Low Fee Clinic providers are master’s level clinicians who are supervised by senior staff. The LFC clinicians (externs) serve the needs of many clients who come to Samaritan Center for help. Externs are not eligible to receive insurance payments, but will work with you to arrive at an acceptable fee for service prior to, or at, your first meeting. If your annual household income falls below $60,000, you would typically be eligible to work with one of the externs.
