Jonas Batt, MA, LMHC is passionately committed to helping others learn, grow, and change through the simple power of paying attention in the present moment. Jonas has practiced and studied mindfulness and meditation since 1997, is a trained yoga instructor, holds a Master of Arts in Counseling from Seattle University, and is a licensed mental health counselor in private practice.
Since 2011, Jonas has taught MBSR to veterans with PTSD at the Seattle/Puget Sound VA in support of research by Dr. David Kearney. In 2014, he began co-teaching for a multi-year study measuring the effects of Loving-Kindness Meditation (LKM) on PTSD. Jonas was previously a Clinical Supervisor and Case Manager with the Crisis Respite Program (CRP) at Seattle’s DESC; the CRP is a King County-funded, 24-hour residential psychiatric crisis respite for severely and persistently mentally ill homeless adults.

James L. Furrow, PhD
Jim holds a doctorate in Human Development and Family Studies, as well as a masters degree in theology (with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy). He is an associate professor in Marriage and Family Therapy at Fuller Theological Seminary, in Pasadena, CA, where he is also Co-Director of Center for Research in Child and Adolescent Development. He is a certified EFT therapist and trainer.

Lisa Hardmeyer Gray has been studying mindfulness and meditation for nearly 25 years. In 2015 Lisa received full Certification as a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) through the Center for Mindfulness at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Lisa has been teaching MBSR and Mindfulness training since 2011. Her clients include: International Community Health Services, Washington Physicians Health Program, Veterans Administration Puget Sound Health Care System, King County Healthy Incentive Program, Port of Seattle and the UW Center for Family and Child Well-Being. Lisa is currently completing her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling through Antioch University. She is also an award winning documentary filmmaker who directed the film Healing a Soldier’s Heart which followed five veteran’s through a 12-week mindfulness class at the Seattle VA. Lisa is also the mother of twin 7 year olds.

Roy Hodgson, MA, LMFT, LMHC
Roy’s professional qualifications include two master’s degrees and many years of helping people get stronger and heal. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist; a licensed mental health counselor; a registered couples therapist; a certified EFT therapist and trainer, a certified crisis counselor; and a child mental health specialist.


Kurt Hoelting has been a mindfulness instructor for 20 years, and has trained as a Zen student for over 30 years. He is an ordained United Church of Christ minister (UCC), and graduate of Harvard Divinity School (M.Div., 1977). Kurt has led over 50 mindfulness-based wilderness kayaking retreats in Alaska since 1994. He has been a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) instructor since 2007 at the VA Hospital in Seattle, and since 2010 at Samaritan Center of Puget Sound, teaching ongoing classes at both locations. He also teaches MBSR to King County employees. He is currently nearing certification as an MBSR instructor through the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine.

Veronica Kallos-Lilly, Ph.D., Registered Psychologist
Regarded as an expert in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Veronica Kallos-Lilly is sought after as a clinician, educator, and consultant to therapists around the globe. Her first book, co-authored with Jennifer Fitzgerald, An Emotionally Focused Workbook for Couples: The Two of Us, is receiving high praise and being recommended by counselors across the continent. As a Certified EFT Trainer, Veronica travels within Canada, the United States, and Australia to provide training.
Veronica has been practicing as a Registered Psychologist in British Columbia since 1997. In 2005, she co-founded the Vancouver Couple & Family Institute (VCFI) where she continues as a Director.


Janice Sack-Ory, MSN is a Certified Yoga Therapist and a registered nurse. Janice is trained in Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as well as in Integrative Restoration (iRest), and Mindful Yoga. In addition, she completed a certificate program in Mindful Yoga and Meditation through Sprit Rock Insight Meditation Center and trained in Insight Dialogue with Gregory Kramer. She has taught in a variety of settings including corporate and health care, as well as in community centers and yoga studios and volunteered for two years offering Mindful Yoga to Veterans with PTSD at the Puget Sound VA. In addition, she brings three decades of experience in clinical nurse-midwifery and hospital management to her teaching.

Yolanda von Hockauf, M. Ed., Registered Marriage & Family Therapist
Yolanda is a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist and a founding director of the Vancouver Couple & Family Institute (VCFI). A therapist in the original research study on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) in 1983, Yolanda has been using this approach since it was established. Her skills as a Certified EFT Therapist are widely sought.
Yolanda has been a consultant and trainer to other psychotherapists since 1991 and frequently travels internationally to teach. She is an American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor and a Certified Trainer in Emotionally Focused Therapy – the most well-researched and proven approach to relationship distress.
