My approach to counseling

I use a systemic approach to counseling, considering how an individual or couple’s relationships, family, and social systems may be contributing to problems, as well as how these systems may be a source of strength. I often adopt an experiential theoretical orientation, which acknowledges the powerful role that the freedom to experience and express a full range of emotions can play in the development and maintenance of individual and relationship health. I always aim to be warm and engaging, holding the tenderness of the human spirit in high regard and employing the healing elements of playfulness and humor.

I have experience in working with

Couples: I help couples overcome anger, betrayal, loss of trust and hurt so that they may find connection, closeness and a deeper-than-ever love and partnership.
Individual healing and growth: I support those who struggle with insecurity, worry, feelings of anxiety or depression to achieve a sense of inner peace and calm, self-acceptance and the ability to live authentically, free of emotional restriction.
Managing a medical condition or chronic illness: I provide counseling to alleviate depression, anxiety, relationship strain and grief that often occur when a child, partner or family member is diagnosed with a significant medical condition, disability or chronic illness.
Parenting: I provide parenting support for parents and caregivers of children who have significant behavioral challenges or emotional needs as a result of trauma, family separation, divorce, adoption or medical challenges.
